now for the news you've been waiting for....

i hope i didn't keep beverly and dani waiting too long for the good news. i meant to post this last night, but i went to bed early...lol.

my janelle was inducted into her high school's hall of fame on thursday! i am so proud of her! she was one of 10 seniors selected. there were 29 kids nominated by the senior class and the teachers voted on the top 10.

it was really hard keeping the secret. i didn't want to post it on my blog in case she went to look at it. the prinicipal called me at work on tuesday. he asked me to not tell janelle because they like the kids to be surprised when their names are called. i so wanted to tell her because she really, really wanted to be picked.

she sent me several texts during the day wednesday and even called me at work a couple of times to see if i had heard anything. of course i had to play along like i didn't. to keep up the charade, i called the house several times "checking" the voicemail to see if the school had called. when i got home after water aerobics (yay!), janelle had worked herself up into a frenzy almost about not being selected. i tried to console her and tell her it was an honor just to be nominated by her peers.

on thursday i had to get up and act like i was going to work (i had taken pto for the 1st part of the day). i packed my lunch and everything...lol. it was funny b/c janelle sent me another text right before we were supposed to report to the gym to be escorted to our seats. she still was in shock that she had not been chosen.

when we walked to the gym, she met us at the door. she had her weightlifting class at the time we were supposed to be meeting the other parents in the lobby. it was really great because all her classmates clapped and cheered for her because they knew she had been selected as one of the finalists. the ceremony was great and the other students really cheered for the kids who were selected. i was proud mama sitting there in the audience. janelle has worked hard during her 4 years in high school and i'm very happy that she was rewarded for her efforts. she's been on cloud 9 ever since...lol.

another good thing...i started back with water aerobics. my first day back was wednesday. and boy have i missed it! lionel, our instructor, asked me where had i been. i told him about the gall bladder and knee surgeries and how i was trying to lose the weight and get back in shape. i was sore after the class and hoped i had not overdone it. on thursday, i was fairly sore...nothing a little pain med couldn't help with ( i did break down and take one percocet which put me back on track). i went again thursday evening and am not as sore today as i thought. i had a great workout and was able to keep pace for the most part with the rest of the class. i'm back, baby! watch out cause i'm going to be burning up those calories now and toning up this flabby bod. :)

i'm planning on getting some knitting done (what else is new, huh?). i want to make my penpal's new baby something, but can't decide yet what i want to make. i think i'm going to visit mrs. barbara to get her suggestions on something to make. they live in the netherlands and i think it's pretty cold there right now. i'm leaning towards a soft warm baby blanket. any suggestions?

hope y'all have a good weekend!

How awesome! Tell Janelle congratulations. What an honor!

Happy to hear about the water aerobics. I've never tried that but I'm too terrified to even try a bathing suit on in the privacy of a dressing room, much less wear it to a pool in front of others.

Way to go, Janelle!!

Glad you got back into water aerobices, too, B. I need to do something, but going out to a class isn't working for me. We are looking for a machine of some kind that all of us can use here at home.... So far so good on WW, 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I am not counting the week I was out of town, because it was almost impossible to stay on track. I was good and didn't gain anything, though, so that's a plus.
