fresh start

i'm excited because this week i'm starting weight watchers at work. we've got a group of folks who will be meeting every wednesday to get on track and get healthy. i'm hoping that i will lose about 10 pounds before my knee surgery in december. i feel real optimistic about this go-round. right now i've set a goal of at least 50 pounds by janelle's graduation. i hope i will lose more than that, but that's the minimun.

one of the ladies in my group who has been on ww before offered moral support. she is going to bring in her popcorn machine that makes air-popped popcorn. she told me how she and her hubby counted out their snacks, etc on the weekend and had them ready to grab out of the fridge and cabinet on the way out to work.

well, i'm going to go. i'll keep you updated on the progress. wish me well!

hey....what have y'all been up to?

me...budgeting...or at least supporting folks who are doing their budgets. i am beginning to think that people have an alarm set for 4pm eastern time to start calling me. i must have had 15 voicemail messages this afternoon while i was helping a user. and of course, people were im'ing me too.

whoever thought a company-wide im system would help us be more productive must have been high. at times i have to make myself look invisible or even sign off completely. i had 4 im's going at once while i'm trying to help users on the phone too. multitasking...lol...not my strong suit sometimes.

my new favorite show came on tonight...pushing daisies. i absolutely love the whimsical little show. the characters and the story line are all quirky. i hope abc keeps it going. i told mom and dad i needed to email abc and tell them how much i like the show.

well, i'm gonna go now. sorry for a short lame post. i can write better than this...some day i'll prove it...lol.

kisses!

if all else fails...read the instructions

i'm so mad at myself right now! i just charged on ahead and filled out janelle's senior order form without reading the insert included. after i'm finished completing it, i looked and found that i should have written her name in sentence case, not in CAPS like i did. grrrrrr...... so now i am going to have to go to the school tomorrow and get a new form to fill out. good news is i already know what to put on it.

i fuss at people all the time at work about doing stuff w/o reading the instructions. maybe i should practice what i preach, huh?

tomorrow is boss' day as well as c's and d's birthday. mom made banana pudding for d's birthday and jane made chocolate poundcake for c's birthday. we're going to be in sugar shock tomorrow afternoon for the most part. at least mom uses sugar-free pudding so it won't be quite as sugary as it would if someone else made it. i got robin her favorite candy lindt chocolates....specifically the dark chocolate truffles. i gave them to her before we left tonight b/c she had another busy, hectic day and i thought that would be a good way to end it.

i'm blabbering on so i think i'm going to go now.

busy busy busy

i've been going thru some of the mounds of paper that has been taking up space in my room. i have no clue as to why i was hanging on to some of it. did i see a future project in it or something? who knows...i'm purging it if i can't remember why. i'm also accumulating a fair-sized shred pile that is going to work with me to the big shredder.

i have also run across some of my old calendars/agendas/notebooks while i was cleaning out my desk. these i can't seem to part with as they contain the roadmap of my and janelle's life. i just finished looking at one from 2002-2003. i discovered this family organizer at one of the bookstores. i have used 3 of them and need to buy one for 2007-2008.

as i looked thru the organizer, it took me back to janelle's time in middle school, specifically 7th grade. there were entries for football games, church activities, hair appointments, orthodontist and doctor visits. boy were we busy! not much has changed over the years though....

i got the idea to include some of those things from the organizer and put them in the altered book i want to make for janelle. i want to fill the book with pictures and memories and letters from me recounting our fun time we had together and how i've watched her grow into the beautiful young lady that she is. i think she might like that. it will give her something to look back on when she's older.

~*~*~*~*~*~
we got up early and headed to columbia for an fbla meeting. this time it was at lower richland high school. i went to the chick fil a on garners ferry road (nice folks!) and hung out for a little bit. i was knitting on the knit cuffs i'm making for my pen pal, barbara. a lady who came in with her husband immediately came over and asked what was i knitting. we talked a little about knitting and she told me where i could find a hobby lobby just a couple of exits down i-77. she said they had been having some really good yarn sales. so you know i had to check it out. i found some yarn to make a scarf for robin and the cotton yarn to make the market bag for jane.

on the way back to the school i stopped by barnes and nobles to chill for a while. i grabbed a stack of books and headed to the starbucks cafe inside and got a toasted marshmallow mocha. it was delicious. i did get a little aggravated by a couple of moms who let their kids just run amok. they just blah, blah, blah'd while their kids ran around touching anything and everything they could get their grubby hands on. i was waiting for one little boy to drop the glass tea pot he was messing with. fortunately i had peace and quiet to that point and it was time for me to go anyway.

after picking janelle and the other kids up after the fbla meeting, we met mr. harris and the others at zaxby's to eat lunch. it was nice listening to the kids talk about how they did with their different events. their chapter will represent sc at the regional meeting in november for the battle of the chapters competition. they beat out all the other sc chapters and knew the right answers at the right time.

well, i'm going to go now. i'm sure the charlotte race has started by now and i want to watch my elliott sadler race. i'm hoping he'll do good tonight. he's had a rough season and deserves a good run like he had going at talladega until he got caught up in someone else's wreck. :(

catching up

it's been almost a week since i posted. i don't know what's been up with me. i haven't felt like knitting, surfing the web, blogging, or much of anything. i have been watching reruns of america's next top model when i can.

last saturday janelle and i went to erskine college for visitation day. it was a beautiful fall day. i was surprised at how cool it was that morning. it's a beautiful campus. i didn't take but a couple of pics. we did get to see some of the chipmunks that live up there. one of janelle's friends who attends erskine said there are tons of the little fellows running around. i saw 3 when i was waiting on janelle's group to come back for the campus tour (my knee was hurting so i didn't push my luck). i talked to a really nice lady who was up there with her grandson. she went to erskine years back and said she hopes he thinks about going to school there. here's a pic of one of those cute little chipmunks. i managed to sneak as close as i could to him before he tore off towards the bushes. it's not the greatest pic, but you can see why i got so excited...lol.

well, i'm signing off now. i might blog some tomorrow depending on how i feel.
kisses....
