i'm on mom's and dad's computer in the spare room where i'm sleeping for a couple of days. my room is downstairs. we thought it would be best if i slept up here so i wouldn't have to navigate the stairs much. their computer just does not have a good connection rate. i connect at a much higher rate down in my room. i have no clue why.
yes, we are still on dial-up. i think we're probably the last family in the world not on comcast. i keep trying to talk them into making that leap to the modern age. i've talked to my dad several times about going in together, setting up a wireless network, and having high speed internet throughout the house. just about time i have him convinced, mom unconvinces him for whatever reason. i've even threatened to get high speed for me and janelle and forget about them, which i won't do in the long run. i think dad and i are just going to have to get all the stuff and set it up. mom will be happy in the long run. she'll love how she can play her games and surf her recipe sites easier.
i have also been trying to talk them into getting a laptop. janelle will be getting one for graduation and i'm probably going to buy me one as well. i'll most likely keep the desktop for general purposes, but the laptop is more feasible for me.
i think i'm going to order janelle's christmas present tomorrow. i've got to get it soon or i'll miss out. i'm not going to say what it is just in case she happens to stumble onto my blog. i don't even think she knows i have one, but i don't want to take any chances.
oh and guess what she asked me last night?! she wants to learn to knit! i am so excited about that b/c i have wanted to share my love of craftiness with her for a while. she is a very talented young lady and i know she would do a great job. she likes the reversible cabled scarf that i've been working on. she asked how hard was it to learn to knit. the only thing i wonder about is she is left handed and i'm right handed. does it make a difference or not? i'll have to ask mrs. barbara for her opinion. i'm going to try and find something simple for her to start working on. i think once she gets the hang of it, she'll knit all the time (hopefully) like her mom. she said she wants to use her knitting for mission work as well, making things to give to kids and adults she meets. i told her we could work on some projects together. there's a lot of good charity projects out there, especially geared towards reaching children.
it's getting late and the percocet is kicking in and making me yawn. i'll catch you on the flip side!
kisses....

Bev, Emily is left handed, and she knits right handed. Teach Janelle to knit right handed, and I think she'll be happier in the long run. Do you want to try to get together over Christmas break with our girls and do some knitting lessons?
