she broke it...

i had to take janelle to prompt care this afternoon. last night during the powder puff football game, she hurt her middle finger on her left hand. it was bruised and kind of puffy looking. today it got progressively worse. she said it really hurt after a while and she had a hard time writing in her classes. mom and dad looked at it and agreed that she needed to have it checked out. all of us figured it was sprained and bruised up real bad. even the doctor thought so.

after the x-rays, it was determined that she has a diagonal fracture between the 2nd and 3rd knuckle. he put a splint on it and told her she needs to wear it for 3 weeks except during showering. after the 3 weeks is up, she has to buddy tape it to her ring finger.

now here comes the dilemma...they have a powder puff game on monday. she wants to play b/c this is her senior year. i'm probably going to let her. we'll just pad it up so hopefully she won't stab anyone with it or hurt it again. she said that she grabs the flags with her right hand anyway (she's a leftie). i remember how important it was to play the final senior game. i told her to talk to some of her friends who play football and see how they protect their hurt fingers.

i'm going to take a short nap. my brother brent is coming to visit for a few days so i want to be refreshed when he gets here.

kisses....
